GEC WELCOMES PAX ATTENDEES 08/29 Everyone at GEC voted to give PAX attendees $5 off the ticket price. That brings the total savings up to $25 off the door price! We have received feedback that some of you may be low on cash, so we are extending the window of opportunity for the PAX discount. PUGET SOUND GAME JOBS 08/27 GEC is now sending out a newsletter that lists every game industry job in Puget Sound that we can find. Instead of searching through all of the game websites and temp agencies sites, you can get our document and save time. This comes free with registration to our 2009 educational job fair. PAX IS NEXT WEEK! 08/18 A reminder to everyone that PAX is next week Aug. 29-31 in Seattle. PAX is the premiere entertainment event for games in the NW. There's AAA games, Indie games, competitions, prizes, gift bags, & music. It is a lot of fun, and should be on your 'To Do' list if you are in the game industry. If you don't already know, PAX is run by the guys at Penny Arcade (www.penny-arcade.com) who have a web comic and have released a game on Xbox Live.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER WEB DEVELOPER 08/14 GEC is looking to add a basic version of "digg.com" functionality to our website. This means we need to parse certain websites for new educational content vs. what we have in our database, creating the aforementioned database, and be able to add more websites to that parsing list easily. The other major function we need is to allow our customers and web visitors to "digg" or "GEC" educational articles or websites they find, but allow us to approve those referrals for quality before they get posted on our website. If you have the skills needed, contact GEC about more details and contract payment options. Click here to volunteer. In return for this service, GEC would like to honor the contributor on our 'About Us' section of the website, give a limited edition GEC volunteer shirt, free admission to GEC 2009, and give them a group of GEC 2009 tickets to give away (6 tickets).
