Web Developer for Digg-style aggregator
We are looking for an experienced web programmer to head up the development of our site. Its on YOU to decide what our web server should be (Apache vs IIS), what language to use (any of the .NET flavors versus PHP), what RDBMS to use (MySQL versus SQL Server). All that matters is that whatever you choose, you can implement. We value a person dedicated to bringing the most effective solution to our game community at the cheapest price possible. The most important thing to us is that you are smart, capable, and driven with a strong emphasise on driven. This project is to help our community get a "one-stop-shop" for game education, and you get to be the person who made it all happen.
Here's what you will be trying to accomplish. You have probably have come across the likes of digg, reddit, slashdot, etc. Clones of those sites pop up everyday, but we don't intend on making a clone by any means. Our site will focus on gathering the websites that have the educational content related to games (Eg. Maya tutorials, business communications, resume tips, even game developer blogs). The current design for our site is by no means digg or reddit. Those are mearly given as an example to emphasize that this site will also be driven by user submissions. So with that in mind you will be responsible for maintaining databases of user information, articles, comments, etc. and serving up that content dynamically. An assitant will be assigned to you to help with mundane task and quality cntrol before those submissions get uploaded to our site.
If you've gotten this far and are still interested, please get back to us with a little bit about yourself
(Email Brian at: gec.bsturm[at]gmail[dot]com). If you feel a resume is in order fire it off to us, but a good summary of past experience and a sample of previous work should be sufficient.

Advertising and Printing
GEC needs people to hand out flyers and posters at schools and other areas. This is a great opportunity for those of you who want to help out, but haven't had a chance to pitch in yet. GEC is also looking for a cheaper way to print up our posters, and other print advertisements. Remember, the lower our costs are, the more services we can provide the public at the same affordable ticket price!
